The Lost Sparkles!, is a Christmas show, written for a SEND setting.
Synopsis:
"The Lost Sparkles" tells the charming tale of a Fairy Queen preparing for her grand party, only to discover her essential sparkles are missing! Worried about a "sparkleless" celebration, she enlists the help of various groups of her friends (represented by different classes). The play follows her journey as each class creatively contributes to finding the lost sparkles through different activities, from a Nativity scene with hidden glitter to a "sparkle hunt" and even musical instruments. With each successful discovery, a "sparkle meter" gradually fills. Finally, with the help of all her friends, including those who provide the music and decorations, the Fairy Queen gathers enough sparkle to throw the spectacular party she envisioned. It's a heartwarming story about friendship and collaboration saving the day.
The Christmas Spell that Went Wrong! is a Christmas show, written for a SEND setting.
Synopsis:
In a charming Christmas village blanketed in snow, a well-intentioned witch accidentally casts a spell that causes nine essential elements of Christmas to vanish: love, happiness, peace, the Christmas tree, lights, presents, food, friendship, and music. Narrated by two voices, the play follows the witch's journey, guided by the performances of nine different classes, as she endeavors to restore each missing piece. Through acts of unity, planting a seed, the spark of friendship, heartfelt generosity, kindness, forgiveness, and the simple sound of a bell, each vital aspect of Christmas is rediscovered. Ultimately, the village is filled with the Christmas spirit once more, culminating in a joyous carol sung by the entire school, celebrating the power of community and love.

Key points to take from this document - A quick reference guide, written by me, for any music lead/co-ordinator or SLT
This document, a summary by Stuart Penman of the "National Plan for Music Education 2022," outlines the government's vision to enable all children and young people in England to learn to sing, play an instrument, and create music together, with opportunities to progress their musical interests and talents, including professionally.
Key points include an emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility for all students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds and with SEND. The plan stresses the importance of high-quality music education as more than just activities, aiming to develop musical thinking and understanding. It highlights the crucial role of effective leadership in schools and trusts, the expectation of at least one hour of timetabled music per week for Key Stages 1-3, and the need for schools to develop Music Development Plans.
The document also discusses the statutory nature of music in the national curriculum for primary and early secondary years, the support offered by the non-statutory Model Music Curriculum, and the importance of inclusive music education for students with SEND, including the use of music technology.
The refreshed strategy for Music Hub partnerships is introduced, focusing on three aims and five strategic functions to deliver excellent music education through collaboration. Finally, the plan emphasises the need to support progression and build talent pathways for young people with musical interests, connecting them with further learning opportunities and potential careers in the music and creative industries, aligning with the government's National Youth Guarantee for out-of-school activities.
